Title: Hexagon Drape
Artist: A Klesse
Medium: Mixed media / textured relief on board / plaster / cotton textile / acrylic paint
Year: 2025

This work uses the six‑sided geometry of the Hexagon as a foundational motif — a shape both structurally grounded and poetically resonant — to explore pattern, rhythm, depth, and surface. By arranging hexagonal cells into a tessellated structure, the piece evokes a subtle tension between repetition and variation, order and emergence.

Through careful modulation of texture, relief and tonal variation, hexagon becomes a surface of potential: some recede into shadow, others catch the light; some feel calm and flat, others visibly convex or concave. The result is an artwork that changes its character with shifts in light and viewpoint, encouraging the viewer not just to glance — but to observe, to move, to discover nuance.

Conceptually, the work reflects on ideas of connection, interdependence and spatial unity: the hexagon is a shape found frequently in nature — from honeycombs to crystals — and thus carries associations of structural harmony and organic geometry.

At the same time, draped material  invites a sensory experience: the wall becomes not a flat backdrop but an active surface, transforming the boundary between art and built environment. As light and shadow play across the facets, the piece becomes dynamic, alive — a quiet meditation on geometry, materiality and space.

Finally, this work aims to bring a subtle yet compelling dialogue between minimalism and complexity. The simplicity of the repeating hexagon gives a sense of calm and order; the variation in texture and relief introduces nuance, inviting prolonged engagement. Its aesthetic neutrality and structural clarity make it suitable for contemporary interiors — yet its depth and tactility offer a quiet, introspective presence.
